About RecoveryDK
RecoveryDK is a direct successor to the city of Aarhus’ Recovery Secretariat. The Recovery Secretariat worked for several years to begin the process of moving the city’s psycho-social rehabilitation services towards a more recovery oriented paradigm. As the unit responsible for facilitating the implementation process from 2006 through 2009, the Recovery Secretariat gained a great deal of experience and knowledge regarding recovery orientation and systems change.
In Aarhus the Recovery Secretariat had been working with a common development plan for the entire Department of Social Psychiatry, which includes approximately 580 employees and 1500 consumers.

We continue with many of the same workers--there are currently six workers, three of whom self identify as consumers of psychiatric services--but our role and name have changed. We will henceforth be called RecoveryDK. The name reflects our new purpose, which is to further develop and disseminate knowledge about recovery and the implementation of recovery oriented rehabilitation services.
Our new organization’s current goals include:
- Collecting and propagating knowledge about recovery
- Establishing national and international networks
- Consultation work
- Publishing personal stories from consumers, relatives and workers
- Teaching about recovery and the implementation of systems change
